Reaction #3 Prompt

A few years ago, the famed director Steven Spielberg predicted an 'implosion' of the film industry in the not-so-distant future. At the same time, others have noted (as you'll read) that Hollywood continues to excel at making massive blockbusters (Star Wars, Superhero Movies, Franchises, etc.) and low-budget films (comedies, horror films), but the films that would normally occupy the space between low-budget and blockbuster films are no longer being produced and marketed the way they used to.

For your third reaction piece, read the two articles posted (Spielberg's prediction and Hollywood is Producing Higher Highs, Lower Lows) and write a reaction indicating whether or not you agree or disagree. Why or why not? Can home viewing via television take the place of those "middle" movies? Have serial dramas like Game of Thrones, Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead, etc. taken the place of the movies, except for the big blockbusters? Where do you see the future going?

Write a 250-500-word reaction piece and post it to Sakai under Tests & Quizzes (Reaction #3) by midnight PST, Sunday, February 28, 2016.
